Get To Know Me

Hi, I’m Courtney.

I’m from Brewster, New York in Putnam County, about an hour car ride and an hour and a half train ride from New York City. Brewster is where I was born and raised, where all of my friends and most of my family resided, where I played, laughed, cried, and learned. It is where I grew to become the ambitious, hopeless romantic woman I am today. Where I spent late nights playing miniature golf at Red Rooster, a famous drive-in in my town, with my friends, and where I prank called random people with my neighbors’ in the middle of Harvest Drive.

In 2014, I graduated from high school, left my hometown, and headed to college up at Fredonia in western New York. Located 45 minutes from Buffalo, Erie (PA), and Jamestown, I did my best to become a Fredonian, but I often found myself traveling to the surrounding cities to get away. Despite the struggles, there were so many opportunities and lessons Fredonia brought me I never would’ve gotten had I gone anywhere else for my undergraduate studies. In May of 2018, I graduated from SUNY Fredonia with my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood/Childhood Education.

Recently, I graduated from Manhattanville College with my MPS (Master of Professional Studies) in Special Education: Early Childhood/Childhood Education. I’m currently working at C.V. Starr Intermediate School as a fifth grade Special Education Teacher in Brewster, NY (yes, my alma mater).

I started this blog and named it Conscious because it contains everything that’s on my mind. The following categories are subjects that I am passionate about and what makes me me:

Grammarly: A grammar lesson! I have an odd fascination with punctuation and what not so prepare yourself.

Listen Up: Playlists I’ve made that are dedicated to those who I love and ones who have hurt me.

Quoted: Daily snippets of conversations I’ve had with people or I’ve overheard people having.

Them: Excerpts from a book I someday hope to write.
